So, first off, a new gadget on the market, I am usually first in line or very near the front and if its a techy thing or something to do with my music, iPod or a passion I have, I am not only first, I am usually peeing my pants as well (not because I cant go to the bathroom in time, I just like it...)
So, I bought the Nike+ iPod device from my local Apple store. Try to see if it would work with my current Nike shoes or the other running shoes I have, not a good fit, fell out during the run, had to find it, then tried other options, it just didn’t work out... so off to the store for the Nike+ branded shoe with the iPod receiver pocket they built into the heal (very neat idea). Typically I don’t like Nike shoes, arches too high for me... however, the latest issue of Runners World rates this particular shoe, the Airmax 180, was rated best debut new shoe and I would say I like it, or I did in the store.
Home, loaded with music on the iPod, little transponder in the shoe, and I am off...
What a cool device, its display on the iPod is in huge, red bold numbers which makes it easier to read than the normal font the iPod displays for other items. You can press the center button anytime during the run to get your miles run, pace and calories.
You can set up length of runs, pace runs or calories to burn or just a basic work out and go for it. I love it!
Best motivation device for me right now... when Lance Armstrong is talking to you, what else do you need!
Once your run is over you plug into iTunes, it uploads your data to Nikeplus website and you can track your runs, compete against others or set up personal goals. It may seem goofy, but something as simple as this actually motivates me more to run so I can run home (no pun intended) to upload to my personal Nike page and see how I am doing.
Check out my last run nikeplus-run... it shows my last mile was faster than the first, and my last half was even faster.
All I want now is to be able to load other predefined work outs, like a training working out that announces, "run faster for 500 yards" slow your pace down etc... I am sure it is only a matter of time.
Hmmm how do I incorporate this with Yogi Master?
