Lots in that opening line... but since I recently moved to Arizona, its a dry heat, I have had the chance to pack, purge and re-arrange many boxes of "things" that I felt I just could not live without.
I did manage to purge many things prior to the move, but recently in an additional effort to organize the mess in the garage, I realized I still had more to purge, which I separated into the appropriate piles (recycle, regular trash and then the shredder pile - personal stuff).
Once interesting thing about this exercise (started moving things from cardboard type boxes to those need see through and colored plastics bins) is that the 1-2 hours I thought I would spend this past weekend turned into 5-6 hours plus since I started down memory lane.
Yes, hundreds and hundreds of pictures, old journals, letters, cards, poems, random notebooks and much much more... I didn’t look at everything, but I did spend quite a bit of time reviewing via "core sample" as a very close friend put it to me...
So I decided another new project for 2008, like I need more, would be to scan as many of my pictures into digital format, many are getting faded and old and I would hate to loose them. Another endeavour will be to take many old writings (poems, stories, thoughts etc) and either simply post as is, or edit them, clean them up, add new levels of maturity (begin laughter) - meaning re-work them and see what happens.
Cathartic exercises are grand.
