Words, rants, thoughts, ideas and stuff…

Okay, alright… well…

“I get it now”… it has taken a while, but for most of my life I thought I got it, I thought I knew it, but really, I was missing the mark in so many ways.

Why?

Ego, arrogance, apathy, defiance… stupidity, immaturity, plane and simple. Maybe nothing more than a lack of care, probably mixed in with a little bit of denial.

Creating my own sense of reality or destiny, or fullfilling my own negative prophecy. Suscribing to a type of llfe environment and ensuring it happens.

At any rate or cause, the history as it is written stands, the future cannot undo it, change it or rewrite itself. The future through effort can change the ultimate end results and mitigate the innevitable if not re-directed.

It’s up to me. Listen to the past, listen to the voices… there is always some measure in truth when not paid for or when gain is not the means.

And BTW, just proclaiming, “I get it now”, might actually dismiss this claim by the sheer fact that I say it, think it or write it. Maybe I am still missing it… not getting it “all”, but maybe what matters more, is that I realize that it is more in that “I wasn’t getting it” and that the real work is ahead. The list is long…

Earl is right.

Maybe that is what “I get now”…

Work in progress, stay tuned.

How Precious Life is…

Posted on | January 5, 2007 | No Comments

A business friend of mine, who works with me at my company, was involved in an accident on January 2nd, 2007. Aaron Holm is the nicest coolest guy I have met in a long time and one I am proud to say i got the privilege and opportunity of meeting and getting to see his personality and heart… even if it was just a little insight to who he is, it was enough to know how special the guy is…

On January 2nd, he got a call to help his admin fix a flat tire, she was on the freeway in need of help, she is pregnant and needed someone; so Aaron, ever the Good Samaritan, guardian angel and the kind of guy that would do anything for you, rushed to help.

While between the two cars, another car ran into the back of his car and crushed him. His angel was wathcing over him, he live, but lost both legs. A young outgoing, athletic guy with a wonderful wife and 2 young kids…

48 hours later he is laughing, joking asking about work, his staff and is actually the core strength to his family – not to mention his wife and children are equally amazing in their support and love of Aaron.

I could not even imagine this kind of tragedy in my life, it makes any and all past pain and hard-ache, even if gathered up collectivel in a single bolt of lightening, that it would not compare or come close to this… the doctors would have to strap my hands down to keep me from pulling my own plug… I am not or would not be half the man that Aaron is…

There is a blog site of hope and encouragement that has been set up to monitor his progress and for people to send prayers and good wishes.

The biggest thing here, is life is short, precious and no one is immune to what it can dish out – Aaron will be okay, his personal courage and heart will carry him through and I believe he will go on to do things that will be a source for other people to look to for their strength… he is just that kind of guy. he will turn this around, find the silver lining.

Even if you don’t know Aaron, you can send him a note, a prayer… he can use it and is the kind of man that you want to support.

A source of inspiration, Aaron Holm.

Which is…

Posted on | January 4, 2007 | No Comments

Time to reflect and wonder…

So many choices over time, so many ideas, missed opportunities, challenges unmet… many other dreams or thoughts really that have been accomplished, small victories, mini-medlas – but – what’s the score? Does it matter…

Which is harder, practice or the actual journey?

Which is greateer, the preparation, the ascent or summit?

Which is worth more respect, the effort or the result?

Time to decide now, embark on the journey, commit to it.
