My Soul To Rest

I’ve been stumbling around
for oh so many years
thinking my heaven was found
but days on end were filled with tears
for all this loneliness for oooh so long
I’ve been floating without a trace
and thinking I must have grown quite strong
but missing the warmth of a true embrace
just then when it began to weighed down on me
I looked through the strands of your hair
and there I saw it, the place I wanted to be
the world was in your eyes, it dashed away my despair
and for sure with the touch of your hand
my heart began to rise and stand
listening to your bright smile ring in my ears
and I knew, there it was after all these years
you tell me your stories till the misty morning light
never a better home can there be for my soul to rest
as you move in a little closer and curl up tight
oh God how I thank you for leaving me so blessed
tethered to my jacket you measure our time
and all around your mind my fingers climb
you lean against my chest, to a wondrous beat
dancing into life, new days set upon our feet
