Listen with your Heart

Listening… a simple yet the most misunderstood of our senses…
We take it for granted, we listen and hear not the intentions or meaning of the author but our own insecurities and fears. Our own internal volume controls seems to be louder and more prevalent than the reality of the words as they pass the space from the lips to the ears.
We had the ability to be open and listen clearly when we were children and we can selectively do this today to our own children. We don’t judge them or think ill of their intentions. We actually take for granted and assume they are pure and untainted and what they say and do is what they truly believe and intend. We somehow loose this and or easily turn this on and off at rapid discretion minute by minute with each person we come into contact with, sad.
We should connect I would think, our heart to the ears, like a hearing aid. We should run past this filter when we question or wonder if what we hear is true or real. It would seem that for the most part, this would be better for us as humans as a whole than to use a negative filter and question and be on guard.
This then would mean our mistakes in hearing would be grounded with our heart and our openness would still yet be rewarded with the knowledge that we tried, we were open and allowed for the possibility of goodness. We cannot be faulted for our efforts of growth and maturity in attempting to listen with our hearts and find love.
