True Love

Posted on | October 8, 2004 | No Comments

With true love, one no longer behaves dualistically: feeling very attached to some people, distant from others, and totally indifferent to the rest.

In the ordinary personality the mind is always divided against itself, always fighting and disturbing its own peace, such reactions are the opposite of peace. They are negative and do nothing but produce suffering.

If we take care of others, work for their happiness, we are automatically taking care of ourselves. Trying to make others happy is the best way of loving ourselves.

Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own (will), is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
